The KHT-8005 may look like a 5.1 system comprising of only 4 units not 6, but it is a full discrete surround system.

The Kef engineers have simply enclosed the front Left, Centre and Right speakers into one neat chassis to sit under (or over) your screen. The elegant gloss black case houses 3" Uni-Q drivers with additional bass units similar to those in other Kef speakers.

The Uni-Q has a 15mm high frequency unit mounted in the centre of the 75mm mid bass flanked by two bass drivers. This set up is repeated three times across the front and each satellite speaker has the same complement so all channels are equally capable when it comes to surround. The sound field created is smooth and precise as there are no tonal changes as sounds pan around you. The bottom end bass is provided by the KUBE2 active subwoofer. The 10" bass is powered by a 200w class D amplifier. Another 10" driver in the same housing completes the sealed box setup creating a sound larger than the diminutive size would suggest..

The front speaker chassis has three sets of gold plated connections, one each for the L, C and R drive systems. Satellite speakers can be mounted horizontally, vertically or on separately available stands, gold plated connections are provided on these also.
