I cannot get 4k HDR to work with my HDR capable source.

May have several reasons:

  • Check cables (both must support 18 Gbps) and that source and sink support HDR10. Also ensure that you have latest firmware installed on your HDR capable AVR.

  • use one of the inputs at the AVR that support 4k / HDCP 2.2 - it is recommended not to use the Front HDMI input of the AVR

  • TV HDMI port (to which the AVR is connected) must support HDR (sometimes this needs to be enabled in the setup menu of the TV - set to Enhanced format or Enhanced mode or 4k60 / 4:2:2 and 4k24 / 4:4:4) - try connecting directly from source to TV using same port to check

  • Source device output must be set to HDR: Auto and to output 4k60 / 4:2:2 and 4k24 / 4:4:4

  • Switch off video conversion in AVR

Please note that 3D playback may not be possible on some TVs if this is in Enhanced mode. Please then select Standard mode or 1080p and allow 3D. On few TVs, switching back to Enhanced Mode now lets you play HDR for 4k sources and automatically enables 1080p 3D for 3D sources.
